Skin Lump Removal

Skin lump removal is a common procedure performed to eliminate various types of growths on the skin, including warts, lipomas, cysts, moles, and skin tags. These growths can be benign or, in some cases, may carry a risk of malignancy, necessitating their removal for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and can appear anywhere on the body. They are typically small, rough growths that often develop on the hands, feet, or genital area. Removal techniques for warts may include cryotherapy (freezing), laser therapy, or surgical excision.

Lipomas are benign tumors made up of fatty tissue that commonly occur just beneath the skin. They usually feel soft and movable and can develop anywhere on the body. Surgical excision is the primary method for removing lipomas, although liposuction or steroid injections may sometimes be used.

Cysts are fluid-filled sacs that can form within the skin's layers and may be caused by infection, clogged oil glands, or trauma. These lumps can vary in size and may be tender to the touch. Treatment for cysts typically involves drainage through a small incision or surgical excision, especially if the cyst is recurrent or causes discomfort.

Moles are growths on the skin that are usually brown or black and can appear alone or in groups. While most moles are harmless, some may develop into melanoma, a type of skin cancer. Surgical removal of moles, known as excision biopsy, may be recommended if there are concerns about the mole's appearance or changes in size, shape, or color.

Skin tags are small, benign growths that often occur in areas where the skin rubs against itself, such as the neck, armpits, or groin. They are typically flesh-colored or slightly darker and may be removed through various methods, including surgical excision, cryotherapy, or ligation.
